Confederation of African Football (CAF) has invited Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan to grace the 2022 CHAN tournament slated for January 13 in Algeria.

 

The globally celebrated football icon joins a list of celebrated African Football invited by the continent’s highest governing football body.

 

Asamoah Gyan, who is Ghana’s all time top goal scorer and Africa’s highest goal scorer at the FIFA World Cup, joins the likes of Didier Drogba, Jay Jay Okocha, Yaya Toure, El Hadji Diuf, Emmanuel Adebayor and Karim Hagui.

 

Asamoah Gyan previously played punditry role for Super Sports at the just ended FIFA World Cup and has been honored with similar invitations in the past.

 

The tournament is for African footballers resident in their natives countries in the format of AFCON.

 

It was introduced in 2009 and is played every two years.

 

Ghana played in two finals and will be hoping for another final appearance when they open their tournament far away in Algiers.
